Before using tattoo numbing cream, it's crucial to get permission from your tattoo artist, as some artists refuse to work with it due to potential complications.

Important Information:

  • Artist preference:

Some artists believe numbing cream can affect the skin's texture, potentially impacting the quality of the final tattoo.

  • Safety and health:

Artists are concerned about allergic reactions, infections, and other adverse effects, so they need to be aware of its use.

  • Risk of rescheduling:

If you arrive with numbing cream without prior consent, your artist may reschedule your appointment and you could lose your deposit.

Risks of using numbing cream

  • Allergic reactions: Skin irritation, rash, swelling, and in rare cases, anaphylactic shock.

  • Adverse effects: Hypertension, discoloration, and burning sensations.

  • Ineffective treatment: The cream may not be fully effective or may wear off during a long session.

  • Severe complications: In rare cases, excessive use can lead to serious side effects like irregular heartbeat, seizures, or breathing difficulties.

Before your appointment

  • Inform your artist:

Discuss the use of numbing cream with your artist well in advance.

  • Check the artist's policy:

Some studios have specific rules or prefer clients not to use any numbing cream.

  • Disclose all information:

Be prepared to sign a consent form and inform your artist of any allergies or medical conditions.

  • Follow instructions:

If you are approved, follow the artist's instructions for application and be aware that they may have specific brand recommendations.

Inproper use and or the combining of multiple different numbing creams and or sprays can adversely affect the skin and therefore the quality of the tattoo and healing.

I understand the above information on numbing creams/sprays and that improper use can effect tattoo quality and healing

Finger Tattoos/Hand Tattoo and Tattoos on Feet

Why these tattoo areas are different-

  • High wear and tear: The hands and fingers are constantly used, which causes ink to fade faster and makes the tattoos more prone to "dropout" compared to other areas.

  • Skin type: The skin on fingers is often thinner and doesn't hold ink as well as skin elsewhere.

  • Artist's discretion: We do not guarantee their free touch-up policy for finger tattoos, hand or tattoos on the feet.

What you can expect

  • Frequency: Expect to need more frequent touch-ups, potentially every six to eight months, as opposed to longer periods for other tattoos.

  • Cost: You will likely have to pay for any touch-ups.
